Graduates, the New York City College of Technology are proud to announce its 86th Commencement ceremony, which will be held on Monday, June 8th, 2026, in the Barclays Center. Line up will begin at 2:00 PM, and the precession will start at 4:00 PM. The main entrance is located at the intersection of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues. This modern venue is situated on top of one of the largest transit hubs in New York. Public transit is the fastest, most convenient way to travel there!

As an alternative option to in-person attendance, our live streaming of the ceremony will be available for those who cannot be present.

RSVP for Commencement

To be eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony at Barclays Center, all graduating students as well as students who have six (6) or fewer credits remaining to complete their degree may participate in the ceremony.
All eligible students are required to complete the RSVP form by May 1, 2026 to confirm attendance and ticket needs. During the RSVP process, you will also indicate the number of guest tickets you are requesting.

Graduation Fair 2026

The Graduation Fair will take place at the Academic Building Foyer, A105 and the Community Center from Tuesday, April 28th, 2026, to Thursday, April 30th, 2026. 


Here is the schedule:

Tuesday, April 28, 2026 | 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Wednesday, April 29, 2026 | 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Thursday, April 30, 2026 | 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

This one-stop event will offer graduating students the opportunity to have their graduation photos taken and to purchase their caps and gowns, class rings, commemorative diploma frames, and more.

Below is the pricing for graduation regalia:

  • Full Set: $48.00
  • Tassel: $3.30
  • Cap: $4.55
  • Gown Only: $19.55
  • Hood Only: $20.60

Please note that only electronic payments will be accepted. No cash payments will be accepted at the time of purchase.

Overseas Guest Information

Please note that City Tech does not issue individualized invitation letters for commencement. To support your guest’s visitor visa application, we recommend including a personalized invitation letter with relevant details about the ceremony (date, location, and your participation). Feel free to email commencement@citytech.cuny.edu with any questions or concerns.

Cap & Gown Assistance (Financial Hardship Support)

The Office of Student Life & Development is offering a limited number of free cap and gowns for students experiencing financial hardship.

If you are unable to purchase your graduation regalia, please complete the form below to request assistance.

Please note that the Office of Student Life & Development has a limited stock of cap and gowns available. Distribution will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Students who submit the form will be contacted to schedule a pick-up time based on availability.

When and where is the ceremony?

New York City College of Technology will host an in-person graduation at the Barclays Center to celebrate our 2025-2026 graduates. The event will be live-streamed on the college website.

How do I get a cap and gown for the ceremony?

You can purchase a cap and gown at the Graduate Fair on April 28th-30th, 2026 in the Academic Building.

Are graduation photos and class rings available?

Yes, class rings, diploma frames, class t-shirts, and other alumni items will be available for ordering and purchase during the Grad Fair. For graduation photos, you can visit Continental Studios schedule an appointment or visit them at the Grad Fair (no appointment necessary). These photos are for personal use only.

When will I receive my diploma?

The Registrar’s Office will provide you with an update regarding your diploma approximately 8 to 10 weeks after your date of conferral.

What happens to my City Tech e-mail address when I graduate?

Your City Tech e-mail address is yours for life. You’ll be able to continue to send and receive e-mails after graduating. Just make sure to log in at least once a year, or it will go dormant, in which case you will have to log in and follow a few steps to reactivate it.

Graduation Eligibility

To have your name included in the 2025–2026 Commencement Booklet, you must have filed for graduation with the Registrar’s Office by the deadline of March 17th, 2026, and have completed all of your credit requirements.

Ticket Information

Each degree candidate will receive four (4) electronic tickets to enter the Barclays Center. Graduates themselves do not need a ticket. These are non-replaceable and are distributed one time only. Stay tuned for the next installation on when tickets will be distributed.
 

Extra Ticket Information

Any requests for extra tickets must be included in your original RSVP. Due to the large graduating class, we are only able to issue a maximum of 4 additional tickets per student. Please note that extra tickets are based on availability and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Graduation Keepsakes

Graduating students can purchase items such as class rings, diploma frames, class t-shirts, and other alumni items from the following vendors: Fond Memories and Jostens Regalia.
 

Graduation Photos

On-campus photos for this year’s graduates can be taken during the Graduation Fair on Tuesday, April 28th through Thursday, April 30th, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM in the Academic Building Foyer and A105.

Continental Studios will also be on campus offering graduation portrait sessions ahead of the Grad Fair. Students can schedule an appointment using the sign-up link below. Portrait sessions will take place in the 5th Floor Lounge of the General Building from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on the following dates:

Academic Excellence Awards

An in-person Academic Excellence Awards ceremony will take place at the College to recognize academic achievement for eligible students. Qualified participants will be invited to attend via their City Tech student email only.

CLASS OF 2026! CUNY wants you to celebrate your graduation via social media as well. You can search for Instagram filters to help with the festivities. There are many gifs and stickers provided when you enter “CUNY”. Show some City Tech pride by using the hashtag:
